Orchard Toys Shape Snap
Most people are familiar with the traditional game of 'Snap', which involves trying to match your card with that of another player. Shape Snap makes the game particularly appealing to young children, and helps them to learn about shapes, colours and counting along the way. The game is particularly suited to players aged from 3 to 6, but the colourful illustrations will appeal to much younger children as well, who will have fun identifying shapes, colours and images in the pictures. The game can be played by 2 to 4 players; all the 48 cards are shuffled and dealt face downwards to each player. The first player turns their top card over and places it in front of them, picture side up. Each of the other players does the same in turn. If a player sees any two top cards that match, they quickly shout "Snap", and the first person to shout wins all the cars from both of the matching piles, which they place at the bottom of their own face-down pile of cards. Once children are familiar with the different shapes, they should also call out the name of the shape, i.e. "Star snap!" The game ends when one person has won by collecting all the cards. The cards are beautifully illustrated using bright, bold colours, and show a range of different shapes, some familiar, such as circles, squares and diamonds, and some more obscure, such as hexagons, cubes and cones. The cards are large, approximately 13cm x 19cm, and many of the pictures will show more than one example of the shape - you could ask your child how many stars they can see on the card. The game will help your child with maths and English (there is an educational guide on the box), and the cards can be used for so many other fun and educational activities.

Orchard Toys Alphabet Lotto
This very simple lotto game will help very young children to recognize letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make. It can be played by up to 5 players. Each player takes a lotto board, and players must decide whether they all play with the letter or picture sides of the boards. All the letter or picture cards are placed face down on the table, and players take it in turns to pick up one of the cards, which they show the other players. If the card matches one of the pictures or letters on their lotto board, they cover it with the card. If not, the card is returned, face down, to the table. The winner is the first player to cover all the spaces on their lotto board. There are 4 versions of the game; players can choose to match picture cards to the picture lotto boards, or letter cards to the letter lotto boards. Or, to make it slightly harder, they can try to match the picture cards to the corresponding letter boards, or match letter cards to the corresponding picture boards. Although this game is ideal for children aged 3 and over, even younger children will enjoy being helped to match the pictures. You can also ask children to find a card with a fish on, or a card with something red on it, or a card with the letter 's'. The letter cards can be used to spell out words as well, so there are many opportunities for extra play value. Children will have so much fun with this game, yet they won't realise that they are learning at the same time. 3 - 6 Years

Orchard Toys - Le Jeu de Coccinelles "Ladybirds Game" - Langue: anglais
A very easy game that encourages counting skills. The 24 cards are placed on the table, with spot sides uppermost. Throw the die and then pick up a card with a matching number of spots on it. Turn the card over, and see how many little ladybirds are hiding on the leaf. Some leaves won't have any ladybirds on them, and sometimes there won't be any cards left with the same number of spots as on the die. At the end of the game, players have to count all their ladybirds, and the winner is the player with the most. Or you can make it even more exciting by waiting until all the cards have been picked up before turning them over to count the ladybirds. One player could also be nominated to count everybody's ladybirds at the end. As well as helping with counting and addition skills, this game also teaches observational and logic skills. It doesn't take too long to play, so will hold a child's attention throughout the game. The cards can also be used to play other games, such as 'Snap' or 'Pairs', or used for counting practice. There is also an educational guide on the box which shows how the game can enhance your child's education. The bright colours make this a visually appealing game, and the durable, recycled board with a wipe-clean finish means that the game will withstand plenty of use. It is suitable for 2 to 4 players, aged 3 to 7.

Orchard Toys - Jeu de Chaudron Magique "Magic Cauldron" - Langue: anglais
There are two versions of this magical, award winning game, which is designed to help children with basic maths skills in a fun way. In both versions, each player takes a cauldron board. The idea of the game is to be the first to fill your cauldron with enough magic ingredients to make a spell. In one version, the small spell ingredients cards are shuffled and placed picture side up in a pile. The bigger sum cards are spread face upwards on the table. The first player picks up an ingredient card and looks at the number on the reverse. They then have to search the sum cards for a sum which they think gives the same answer as the number on the small card. They can then rub the magic black ghost on the back of the sum card to see if it reveals the same number as that on the small card. If the numbers match, the player can add the small card, picture side up, to their cauldron. If the numbers don't match, the small card is returned to the bottom of the pile and the sum card is returned to the table. Play continues until one player has filled their cauldron with ten ingredient cards. The alternative version of the game is played in the same way, but the sum cards are placed in a pile, face up, while the small ingredient cards are spread, picture side down on the table. Players have to find the small card that correctly answers the sum they have picked from the pile, and rub the magic black ghost on the back of the sum card to check their answer. Children love the novelty of rubbing the magic ghost to reveal the answers, while learning to do simple addition, subtraction and multiplication sums. The game is made from durable thick card, which will withstand pleanty of handling.

Orchard Toys Animal Safari Game
This exciting game takes you in a jeep through the African savannah, as you try to find as many animals as you can. The 40 animal cards are placed face down next to the viewing points around the board, and players throw 2 dice to determine how many spaces to move. Players can choose whether to move the number of spaces shown on both dice, or whether to move the number of spaces just indicated on one of the die. The aim is to land on a viewing point, where you can collect an animal card to add to your collection. However, each die shows a pair of binoculars on one side, and if this appears when a player rolls the die, that player can zoom in and take an animal card from another player. Once all the players have finished their safari and reached the camp, the player who has collected the most animals is the winner. This game involves a certain amount of strategy, as players can decide whether it would benefit them to move the amount of spaces shown on one or both dice. The advanced gameplay instructions suggest a different option for older children which makes the game even more strategic. As well as helping with maths skills and lateral thinking, children can have fun talking about the animals in the game and making animal noises. Suitable for 2 to 4 players. 5 Years +
