Extreme Tribology
Tribology is an unfamiliar term for many people, whereas it is encountered by all of us. It is the science of friction, lubrication and wear of moving solid components. The aim of Extreme Tribology is to provide a simple form of fundamentals along with the characteristics of tribological challenges in extreme working conditions. The first two chapters of the book offer a comprehensive review of the classical tribology of solid contacts, friction mechanics, wear mechanisms and lubrication techniques. These chapters are recommended for undergraduates and postgraduates studying tribology. In the following two chapters, the author discusses the main features of extraordinary conditions including, but not limited to, extreme environments, sliding severity and lubrication challenges. The state-of-the-art researches on friction and wear under these extreme conditions are discussed extensively which will be of interest to researchers as well as postgraduate students. Chapters five and six discuss the development of solutions for extreme tribology, providing a complete overview to the various factors affecting tribo-systems in extreme conditions, and focusing on the recent progress in techniques used to control and reduce wear in such situations. In addition, tribology of automotive components is presented in chapter seven as tribological applications in practical situations. Chapter eight offers a basic understanding of the failure in tribological systems. The following two chapters explore current states and development trends in tribology of polymer composites and the emerging field of MEMS and NEMS with a special interest in the effects of environmental and working conditions. Diverse methods applied in predicting wear behavior by mathematical models, FE modeling and ANN approach are introduced in the last chapter. The book consists of eleven chapters and each of them is accompanied by relevant references.

Fundamentals of Applied Dynamics
An introductory engineering textbook by an award-winning MIT professor that covers the history of dynamics and the dynamical analyses of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems. This introductory textbook offers a distinctive blend of the modern and the historical, seeking to encourage an appreciation for the history of dynamics while also presenting a framework for future learning. The text presents engineering mechanics as a unified field, emphasizing dynamics but integrating topics from other disciplines, including design and the humanities. The book begins with a history of mechanics, suitable for an undergraduate overview. Subsequent chapters cover such topics as three-dimensional kinematics; the direct approach, also known as vectorial mechanics or the momentum approach; the indirect approach, also called lagrangian dynamics or variational dynamics; an expansion of the momentum and lagrangian formulations to extended bodies; lumped-parameter electrical and electromagnetic devices; and equations of motion for one-dimensional continuum models. The book is noteworthy in covering both lagrangian dynamics and vibration analysis. The principles covered are relatively few and easy to articulate; the examples are rich and broad. Summary tables, often in the form of flowcharts, appear throughout. End-of-chapter problems begin at an elementary level and become increasingly difficult. Appendixes provide theoretical and mathematical support for the main text.

Theoretical Fluid Dynamics
This textbook gives an introduction to fluid dynamics based on flows for which analytical solutions exist, like individual vortices, vortex streets, vortex sheets, accretions disks, wakes, jets, cavities, shallow water waves, bores, tides, linear and non-linear free-surface waves, capillary waves, internal gravity waves and shocks. Advanced mathematical techniques ( calculus ) are introduced and applied to obtain these solutions, mostly from complex function theory (Schwarz-Christoffel theorem and Wiener-Hopf technique), exterior calculus, singularity theory, asymptotic analysis, the theory of linear and nonlinear integral equations and the theory of characteristics. Many of the derivations, so far contained only in research journals, are made available here to a wider public.

Power Prediction Modeling of Conventional High-Speed Craft
The proposed book addresses various power prediction methods, a principal design objective for high-speed craft of displacement, semi-displacement, and planing type. At the core of the power prediction methods are mathematical models based on experimental data derived from various high-speed hull and propeller series. Regression analysis and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) methods are used as extraction tools for this kind of models. The most significant factors for in-service power prediction are bare hull resistance, dynamic trim, and the propeller's open-water efficiency. Therefore, mathematical modeling of these factors is a specific focus of the book. Furthermore, the book includes a summary of most of the power-prediction-relevant literature published in the last 50 years, and as such is intended as a reference overview of the best high-speed craft modeling practices.Once these mathematical models have been developed and validated, they can be readily programmed into software tools, thereby enabling the parametric analyses required for the optimization of a high-speed craft design. The proposed book is intended primarily for naval architects who design and develop various types of high-speed vessels (yachts, boats etc.), as well as for students who are interested in the design of fast vessels. The book includes useful Excel Macro Codes for the outlined mathematical models. Moreover, software for all considered models is provided.

Continuum Mechanics and Linear Elasticity: An Applied Mathematics Introduction
This is an intermediate book for beginning postgraduate students and junior researchers, and offers up-to-date content on both continuum mechanics and elasticity. The material is self-contained and should provide readers sufficient working knowledge in both areas. Though the focus is primarily on vector and tensor calculus (the so-called coordinate-free approach), the more traditional index notation is used whenever it is deemed more sensible. With the increasing demand for continuum modeling in such diverse areas as mathematical biology and geology, it is imperative to have various approaches to continuum mechanics and elasticity. This book presents these subjects from an applied mathematics perspective. In particular, it extensively uses linear algebra and vector calculus to develop the fundamentals of both subjects in a way that requires minimal use of coordinates (so that beginning graduate students and junior researchers come to appreciate the power of the tensor notation).
