The first two chapters of the book offer a comprehensive review of the classical tribology of solid contacts, friction mechanics, wear mechanisms and lubrication techniques. These chapters are recommended for undergraduates and postgraduates studying tribology. In the following two chapters, the author discusses the main features of extraordinary conditions including, but not limited to, extreme environments, sliding severity and lubrication challenges. The state-of-the-art researches on friction and wear under these extreme conditions are discussed extensively which will be of interest to researchers as well as postgraduate students.
