The Digestive System: Level 11 (Collins Big Cat Arabic Reading Programme)
Collins Arabic Big Cat is a guided reading series for ages 3 to 11. The series is structured with reference to the learning progression of Arabic at nursery and primary schools researched especially for Collins. This carefully graded approach allows children to build up their reading knowledge of Arabic step by step. Level 11 books provide more literary language, more complex sentence structures and less support from illustrations. Characters are more varied, with action sustained over several pages. Non-fiction titles include glossaries where necessary. Sentences are still short for better understanding. However, grammatical vowel endings are more evident to encourage fluent reading and to provide familiarity with some higher-level features of written Arabic. We know we all need to eat, but why do we need to and where does it go? Filled with photos and clear diagrams, follow the food you eat on its journey through your body and find out what happens to it along the way. Pages 22 and 23 present a full body diagram, allowing children to recap the full journey our food takes.

Fruit: Level 4 (Collins Big Cat Arabic Reading Programme)
Collins Arabic Big Cat is a guided reading series for ages 3 to 11. The series is structured with reference to the learning progression of Arabic at nursery and primary schools researched especially for Collins. This carefully graded approach allows children to build up their reading knowledge of Arabic step by step. Level 4 books are for children who are ready to start to read stories with simple single words or non-verbal sentences with 2 or 3 words, and with total support through illustrations and extensive use of repetition. Double spacing is used between words to ensure children see where each new word in a sentence begins and ends, and with the focus on reading core words. This non-fiction book explores the different types of fruit the children like to eat, with mouth-watering photographs of melons, oranges, strawberries and much more. Pages 14-15 provide a summary of the different fruits and where they grow, to consolidate understanding of the book.

Cool Kids Cook: Delicious recipes and fabulous facts to turn into a kitchen whizz
Cool Kids Cook is an informative, fun and stylish first cookbook for the pre-teen market. Children from ages 7 to 14 are getting more and more interested in getting into the kitchen. Moreover, they want a cook book that looks quite cool and grown-up, has lots of interesting and fun facts about food background, but that doesn't include recipes for rice crispy cakes and doesn't patronise. This books aims to do just that - to empower kids to a point where they could put a great supper on the table (with a bit of help/guidance for the first few years) and then give them a few exotic dishes with which to show off. This is NOT 'children's food', but real, achievable dishes that teach children about how to eat healthily, shop cannily and learn the vital basic cooking skills to set them up for life. Alongside the classic recipes for muffins and a great birthday cake, you will also find nutritious ideas such as fish en papilotte, adventurous stir fries, vegetable slaws or homemade granola. 50 recipes will teach the basic skills and offer variations to build on those skills. With easy-to-follow step-by-step photography, a fun graphic style to the food facts and kitchen safety, plus loads of basic info on how to shop, plan and balance your diet, this is the book to get kids cooking properly for life.

Now, kids can have a snack while learning a thing or two about science with Emma Vanstone's edible science experiments. Parents can rest easy knowing that their kids are learning and indulging their inquisitive natures using safe materials. Each experiment investigates and explains a different scientific principle using ingredients found right in your kitchen. And the best part is that after kids have built up an appetite exercising their scientific muscles, they will already have a snack just waiting to be eaten. Vanstone is the creator of the award-winning blog Science Sparks, which has over 334k followers on social media. She is also the author of This Is Rocket Science.
