Telegraph to the Sky

Sandile Dikeni's first volume of poetry, Guava Juice , was enthusiastically received when published in 1992 (Mayibuye Books). Since then, Dikeni has been a regular commentator on the development of the country's democracy. In Telegraph to the sky this theme emerges, once again, as the force driving his poetry: One day, someday, should some Freedom be registered and final, do not scoff when I spit at the fruits of freedom because maybe, my bongo has the sound of a wail and my voice, the anger of distance and my movements the estrangement of discontent do not be angry
