The Art of Creative Thinking
A scuba diving company faces bankruptcy because sharks have infested the area. Solution? Open the world's first extreme diving school. The Art of Creative Thinking reveals how we can transform ourselves, our businesses and our society through a deeper understanding of human creativity. Rod Judkins, of the world-famous St Martin's College of Art, has studied successful creative thinkers from every walk of life, throughout history. Drawing on an extraordinary range of reference points - from the Dada Manifesto to Nobel Prize Winning economists, from Andy Warhol's studio to Einstein's desk - he distils a lifetime's expertise into a succinct, surprising book that will inspire you to think more confidently and creatively. You'll realise why you should be happy when your train is cancelled; meet the most successful class in educational history (in which every single student won a Nobel prize); discover why graphic nudity during public speaking can be both a hindrance and surprisingly persuasive; and learn why, in the twenty-first century, it's technically illegal to be as good as Michelangelo. Be stubborn about compromise. Plan to have more accidents. Be mature enough to be childish. Contradict yourself more often. Discover the Art of Creative Thinking. *From the publishers of the international bestseller The Art of Thinking Clearly*

How to Have a Good Day: The Essential Toolkit for a Productive Day at Work and Beyond
In How to Have a Good Day, economist and former McKinsey partner Caroline Webb shows readers how to use recent findings from behavioral economics, psychology, and neuroscience to transform our approach to everyday working life. Advances in these behavioral sciences are giving us ever better understanding of how our brains work, why we make the choices we do, and what it takes for us to be smart and savvy. But it's not always been easy to see how to apply these insights in the workplace - until now. In How to Have a Good Day, Webb explains how three big scientific ideas can help us be at our best every day. She shows us exactly how to apply this science to our plans, tasks and conversations, in step-by-step guidance that allows us to: set better priorities; make the hours go further; turn every interaction into a success; strengthen our personal impact; be resilient in the face of setbacks; and sustain our energy over the course of the day. Webb teaches us how to be at our best under pressure, and gives us specific tools to tackle common work challenges - from conflict with colleagues, to dull meetings and packed inboxes. Filled with stories of people who have used Webb's insights to boost their job satisfaction and performance at work, How to Have a Good Day is the book so many people wanted when they finished Nudge, Blink and Thinking Fast and Slow, and were looking for practical ways to apply this fascinating science to their own lives and careers. A remarkable and much needed book, How to Have a Good Day firmly delivers on its promise, showing us all how to have a lifetime of good days.

Trigger Press are proud to announce Theinspirationalseries, partner to their innovative Pullingthetrigger range. Theinspirationalseries promotes the idea that mental illness should be talked about freely and without fear. As a kind, chatty, and good-humoured man with a zest for life and a passion for helping people, Chris Young adored his job as a social worker. But things fell apart when, in 2008, he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. His illness brought about the end of his calling and he found himself in need of a new project and purpose. And so it came to be that in 2011 Chris began a campaign called Walk a Mile In my Shoes. He walks around the edge of the UK - the edge of society being where many people with mental health problems feel they are - without spending any money and relying on the kindness of strangers. In 2015 he joined forces with See Me Scotland to distil the success of the coastal walk into a series of events, inviting other people to join him and discuss mental health. He encouraged them to literally walk a mile in each other's shoes. Walk a Mile: Tales of a Wandering Loon is the story of how a normal, nurturing childhood turned into one of neglect and abuse and how this, combined with a little faulty brain wiring, lead to a severe and enduring mental illness. It is also the story of one man's journey towards tackling mental health stigma, one step at a time.

Learn how to break the circle of 'never good enough' Voice hearing or 'auditory hallucinations' is more common than might be expected, affecting betweem 5 and 28 per cent of us. It can be experienced as part of a range of mental-health disorders, including schizophrenia, affective psychosis and dissociative conditions. Learning to live with the condition can be challenging; however, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), on which this authoritative self-help guide is based, has been found to be highly effective, providing a powerful and positive way of coping with the experience and of, on occasion, learning to live with the voices.Overcoming self-help guides use clinically-proven techniques to treat long-standing and disabling conditions, both psychological and physical. Many guides in the Overcoming series are recommended under the Reading Well Books on Prescription scheme.Series Editor: Professor Peter Cooper The definitive self-help guide for the surprisingly common, and distressing, condition of hearing voices.

Product Training for the Technical Expert: The Art of Developing and Delivering Hands-on Learning
Product Training for the Technical Expert is an attempt to fill a very large gap in the engineering product training field. While there are many books on talent development, leadership training, and developing internal training programs, there are very few that teach subject matter experts (SME s) how to train others to get the most out of their products. This handbook will provide a SME with a thorough reference on how to begin the process of becoming an effective instructor. When technology is rapidly turned into a product accessible to the public, subject matter experts are then asked to become the instructors. They are rarely trained in adult education and don t understand why transferring their knowledge to others is difficult. In the many technical companies the author has worked with (Honeywell, Delphax, Rimage, Telex, Bosch, TE Connectivity & CommScope), the problem has been identical. It starts with a need to teach others about the product, so someone assigns or hires someone already very knowledgeable about the product to just do it. The book will help the SME actually do it, and do it effectively.

Trigger Press are proud to announce Theinspirationalseries, partner to their innovative Pullingthetrigger range. Theinspirationalseries promotes the idea that mental illness should be talked about freely and without fear. Young, talented, intelligent and with a thriving social life, on the surface Terri Cox had it all. But deep down in her mind a storm was brewing, and a series of life-changing events were about to unfold in quick succession that would send her spiralling into a full mental breakdown. Over the next few weeks and months, Terri was tormented by panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, bouts of insomnia, crippling headaches, severe weight loss and horrific side effects from antidepressants. Fearful of large crowds and ashamed of admitting what was happening to her, she did her best to hide away and shut herself off from society. Wracked with despair and suffering from hallucinations, Terri was taken by her family to the local A&E. When she was discharged, they desperately sought the help of a local psychotherapist. Using a highly effective and innovative form of psychotherapy, Terri was able to revisit the traumas of her past in order to understand the workings of her mind in the present. Slowly but surely, she was able to fight back and find that shiny, happy person that she'd always been before. Shiny Happy Person is the story of one girl's inspirational rise after a devastating fall.

The Autism Job Club: The Neurodiverse Workforce in the New Normal of Employment
The Autism Job Club is a groundbreaking book for bringing adults with autism and other neuro-diverse conditions into the work world. This second edition of The Autism Job Club includes a new Foreword by Steve Silberman, author of the best-selling NeuroTribes, along with an Afterword by the authors. The Afterword covers the many employment initiatives for adults on the autism spectrum launched just in the three years since the book was originally published. The book has its basis in the autism job club that the authors have been part of in the San Francisco Bay Area, the job-creation and job-placement efforts the club has undertaken, and similar efforts throughout the United States. The authors review the high unemployment rates among adults with autism and other neuro- diverse conditions more than two decades after the ADA. Bernick and Holden also outline and explain six strategies that, taken together, will reshape employment for adults with autism: the art of the autism job coach; the autism advantage in technology employment; autism employment and the internet economy; autism employment and the practical/craft economy; autism and extra-governmental job networks; autism and public service employment. The Autism Job Club is a vital resource for adults with autism, their families, and advocates who are committed to neuro-diverse employment, not unemployment. But it also speaks to a far broader audience interested in how to carve out a place for themselves or others in an increasingly competitive job world.

Grow!: Personal Development for Parents
Trevor Silvester is a Harley Street therapist and author of Lovebirds who is revolutionising the way we understand human nature.Grow! is a distillation of over 20 years of experience as a therapist applied to the task of raising happy children.Your children develop primarily in response to your influence, says Trevor. Writing with wonderful wit and clarity, he shows why parents need to nurture their own personal growth so their children can grow to become who they want to be. He shows how parents can overcome their own limitations so they don't pass them onto their children, and how best to guide the young toward becoming strong, resilient and fulfilled adults.Trevor identifies two ways of being in the world; we're either in a state of growth or a state of protection, and he argues that our interpretation of childhood events, and modern culture, often needlessly trigger us into a state of protection, leaving us anxious, fearful and unwilling to live life fully. Grow! describes strategies for keeping us, parents and children, in a state of growth.Using eight parenting mantras to guide you, he shares valuable lessons gained from the latest scientific research, as well as many hours in the therapy room. Incorporating them into your parenting will improve your child's wellbeing enormously. Incorporating them into your life will improve everything. To assist in making these new ideas habitual in the shortest space of time, Trevor has also created a series of downloads for you to listen to, using principles of unconscious influence that have been proven to work.

Stonewall Strong: Gay Men's Heroic Fight for Resilience, Good Health, and a Strong Community
Longtime Washington, D.C. health journalist John-Manuel Andriote didn't expect to mark the twenty-fifth year of the HIV-AIDS epidemic in 2006 by coming out in the Washington Post about his own recent HIV diagnosis. For twenty years he had reported on the epidemic as an HIV-negative gay man, as AIDS killed many of his friends and roused gay Americans to action against a government that preferred to ignore their existence. Eight little words from his doctor, I have bad news on the HIV test, turned Andriote's world upside down. Over time Andriote came to understand that his choice, each and every day, to take the powerful medication he needs to stay healthy, to stay alive, came from his own resilience. When and how had he become resilient? He searched his journals for answers in his own life story. The reporter then set out to learn more about resilience. Stonewall Strong is the result. Drawing from leading-edge research and nearly one hundred original interviews, the book makes it abundantly clear: most gay men are astonishingly resilient. Andriote deftly weaves together research data and lived experience to show that supporting gay men's resilience is the key to helping them avoid the snares that await too many who lack the emotional tools they need to face the traumas that disproportionately afflict gay men, including childhood sexual abuse, substance abuse, risky sexual behavior, depression, and suicide. Andriote writes with searing honesty about the choices and forces that brought him to his own 'before-and-after' moment, teasing out what he learned along the way about resilience, surviving, and thriving. He frames pivotal moments in recent history as manifestations of gay men's resilience, from the years of secrecy and subversion before the 1969 Stonewall riots; through the coming of age, heartbreak, and politically emboldening AIDS years; and pushing onward to legal marriage equality. Andriote gives us an inside look at family relationships that support resilient sons, the nation's largest organizations' efforts to build on the resilience of marginalized LGBTQ youth, drag houses, and community centers. We go inside individuals' hearts and groups' missions to see a community that works, plays, and even prays together. Finally, Andriote presents the inspiring stories of gay men who have moved beyond the traumas and stereotypes, claiming their resilience and right to good health, and working to build a community that will be Stonewall Strong.
