The present subvolume IV/19B3 forms the continuation of IV/19B2 and contains evaluated data for elements and Binary Systems from Cs-K to Mg-Zr appearing in alphabetic order of the elements in the chemical formulae. The volume is accompanied by a CD, which allows computer calculation of a range of solution properties for selected temperature and phase composition ranges for the systems presented in that particular volume. Graphical representations, including the calculated phase diagram for each system, are also possible. Information on more comprehensive software, allowing complex equilibrium calculations involving both pure substances and solution phases of different types (e.g. slags, salt systems, aqueous solutions, etc.), can be obtained from SGTE members. A list of the SGTE membership is presented in the cover pages of this volume.

The present volume in the New Series of Landolt-Boernstein provides critically evaluated data on phase diagrams, crystallographic and thermodynamic data of ternary alloy systems. Reliable phase diagrams provide materials scientists and engineers with basic information important for fundamental research, development and optimization of materials. The often conflicting literature data have been critically evaluated by Materials Science International Team, MSIT (R), a team working together since many years, and with expertise in a broad range of methods, materials and applications. All evaluation reports published here have undergone a thorough review process in which the reviewers had access to all the original data. The data for each ternary system are provided in a standard format which includes text, tables and diagrams. The topics presented are literature data, binary systems, solid phases, pseudobinary systems, invariant equilibria, liquidus, solidus, and solvus surfaces, isothermal sections, temperature-composition sections, thermodynamics, materials properties and applications, and miscellanea. Finally, a detailed bibliography of all cited references is provided. In the present volume IV/11A3 selected light-metal ternary alloy systems are considered ranging from Al-Fe-V to Al-Ni-Zr.

Thermodynamic data for inorganic materials are fundamental for the optimisation of existing process parameters and for investigating suitable parameters for carrying out potential new processes. With the aid of such data, time and costs can be saved by calculating the conditions necessary to produce a material of the required composition and specified purity, with a minimum usage of energy and input materials and with a minimum release of harmful substances to the environment. The SGTE evaluated data presented here are tabulated values of standard thermodynamic properties (enthalpy of formation and standard entropy at 298.15K, enthalpies and temperatures of transition, heat content) for each substance, together with plotted heat capacity, Gibbs energy and enthalpy of formation functions up to the maximum temperature for which the data for that substance have been evaluated. The data are presented in 3 subvolumes, A: Pure Substances, B: Binary Systems, C: Ternary and Multi-Component Systems.

Volume VIII/5A Physical properties of liquid crystals gives a comprehensive compilation of properties of liquid crystalline compounds. Liquid crystals are already well established organic materials for electrooptical applications such as displays (LCD) or shutters, where the exact knowledge of a multitude of various properties is of paramount importance. In particular, the last 25 years have seen enormous advances in the thermodynamic modelling of alloy solution phases, whereby a knowledge of the underlying crystallographic structure of each phase is fundamental to a reliable representation of the thermodynamic properties and phase equilibria of a particular system of interest. With the aid of thermodynamic calculations, considerable time and costs can and are being saved in producing a material of the required composition and phase constitution required for a particular application. SGTE has been at the forefront in providing critically assessed thermodynamic data for alloy systems and has provided guidelines for the modelling of alloy phases of different types. Binary Systems from B-C to Cr-Zr
The present subvolume IV/19B2 forms the continuation of IV/19B1 and contains evaluated data for elements and Binary Systems from B-C to Cr-Zr appearing in alphabetic order of the elements in the chemical formulae. The volume is accompanied by a CD, which allows computer calculation of a range of solution properties for selected temperature and phase composition ranges for the systems presented in that particular volume. Graphical representations, including the calculated phase diagram for each system, are also possible. Information on more comprehensive software, allowing complex equilibrium calculations involving both pure substances and solution phases of different types (e.g. slags, salt systems, aqueous solutions, etc.), can be obtained from SGTE members. A list of the SGTE membership is presented in the cover pages of this volume.

Molecules Containing Five or More Carbon Atoms
This fourth subvolume presents data on the geometric parameters (internuclear distances, bond angles, dihedral angles of internal rotation etc) of free polyatomic molecules including free radicals and molecular ions. The survey on structure data consists of four subvolumes, each containing the geometric parameters determined in the gas phase either by an analysis of the rotational constants (and sometimes the vibrational constants) obtained from microwave, infrared, Raman, electronic and photoelectron spectroscopy or by an analysis of electron diffraction intensities. Most of the structures listed in the tables are for molecules in the electronic ground state, but structures for electronically excited states have also been included as far as they are available. In this fourth subvolume, the structure of molecules containing five to sixty carbon atoms is listed.
