Wreck This Journal: To Create is to Destroy, Now With Even More Ways to Wreck!
A new edition of Keri Smith's bestseller, with updated material Think of Wreck This Journal as the anarchist's Artist's Way -- the book for those who've always wanted to draw outside the lines but were afraid to do it. For anyone who's ever wished to, but had trouble starting, keeping, or finishing a journal or sketchbook comes Wreck This Journal, an illustrated book featuring a subversive collection of suggestions, asking readers to muster up their best mistake - and mess-making abilities to fill the pages of the book (and destroy them). Through a series of creatively and quirkily illustrated prompts, acclaimed artist Keri Smith encourages journalers to engage in destructive acts - poking holes through pages, adding photos and defacing them, painting with coffee, colouring outside the lines, and more - in order to experience the true creative process. With Keri Smith's unique sensibility, readers are introduced to a new way of art and journal making, discovering novel ways to escape the fear of the blank page and fully engage in the creative process.

Darkwood
Magic is forbidden in Myrsina, along with various other abominations, such as girls doing maths. This is bad news for Gretel Mudd, who doesn't perform magic, but does know a lot of maths. When the sinister masked Huntsmen accuse Gretel of witchcraft, she is forced to flee into the neighbouring Darkwood, where witches and monsters dwell. There, she happens upon Buttercup, a witch who can't help turning things into gingerbread, Jack Trott, who can make plants grow at will, the White Knight with her band of dwarves and a talking spider called Trevor. These aren't the terrifying villains she's been warned about all her life. They're actually quite nice. Well... most of them. With the Huntsmen on the warpath, Gretel must act fast to save both the Darkwood and her home village, while unravelling the rhetoric and lies that have demonised magical beings for far too long. Take a journey into the Darkwood in this modern fairy tale that will bewitch adults and younger readers alike. Praise for Gabby Hutchinson Crouch: 'Gabby is one of the funniest writers I know.' Sarah Millican '...very funny. If you like Terry Pratchett, or think gothic fairytales should have more LOLs, 'tis the book for ye.' Greg Jenner 'I have read this and it is great. Pratchetty fun for all the family.' Lucy Porter '...magical, surprising and funny.' Jan Ravens What people are saying about the Darkwood series: 'Clever and funny and so very very entertaining. LONG AWAITED REISSUE FROM THIS BESTSELLING AUTHOR WITH A NEW FOREWORD AND NEW COVER Flora Chapman is in her fifties when her husband dies in a bizarre ballooning accident. Seizing upon her new found freedom, she decides to finish the history of their village that Edward had begun. A reference to Anne of Cleves, Henry VIII's fourth wife who he rejected for being ugly, captures her imagination as she begins to delve deeper into the life of this neglected figure. Meanwhile, in the Louvre, Holbein's portrait of Anne of Cleves senses the tug of a connection and she begins to tell the story of the injustices she suffered and just how she survived her marriage. A fascinating tale of Sisterhood and Survival.

Community music projects always spread harmony... don't they? When players in Stockwell Park Orchestra fear they may be getting out of touch with the community, they invite children from two nearby schools to join them for a season. Supercilious, rich Oakdean College pupils have never mixed with the rough Sunbridge Academy kids, and when things go missing and rumours spread, the situation threatens to turn ugly. DCI Noel Osmar has to tread carefully: after all, he's off duty. Step forward, Carl the trombonist. Can music heal social rifts? Who has been stealing and why? And will the orchestra's newly-composed fanfare turn out to be fantastic... or farcical? Praise for The Stockwell Park Orchestra Series: I was charmed... a very enjoyable read. Marian Keyes Friendly insults between musicians, sacrosanct coffee-and-biscuit breaks, tedious committee meetings: welcome to the world of the amateur orchestra. BBC Music Magazine ...a witty and irreverent musical romp, full of characters I'd love to go for a pint with. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the Stockwell Park Orchestra and can't wait for the next book in the series. Claire King, author of The Night Rainbow Sharp, witty and richly entertaining. Lev Parikian, author of Why Do Birds Suddenly Disappear? With its retro humour bordering on farce, this novel offers an escape into the turbulent (and bonkers) world of the orchestra. Isabel Costello, author of Paris Mon Amour

Bestselling Andy McNab and award-winning Phil Earle join forces for the very first time, and the results are hilarious! Danny Mack's mates are brilliant: there's his best mate Giraffles (yeh, you read that right), so-called because of his unusually long neck; the MandM twins (you got it - like the chocolate) who are always finishing each other's sentences; and Lucky Success, who, well I reckon you can guess how he got his name. They're the best mates a kid could ask for, and when an epic school trip is announced, they're all properly made up about it. Because school trips are just an excuse to have a big laugh with your mates, right? Erm, WRONG. Let's just say that this is a school trip like no other, and Danny, Giraffles, Lucky and the MandMs have got a real challenge on their hands. Will they make it through? If Danny has anything to do with it, you bet they will! Brilliantly illustrated by Robin Boyden, illustrator of David Solomon's My Arch-Enemy is a Brain in a Jar, and full of laughs and a lot of heart, Get Me Out of Here! is without a doubt the book of the year.

When there is nothing to do Do nothing
There are pitfalls aplenty in this book. These dangers include your taking a literal interpretation of the title. Finally, you say, someone has given me permission to take the rest of my life off. You don't need my permission to do this. How about living as a forest monk? There are many benefits: The tax breaks are fantastic, you pay no taxes; there are the sounds of silence; sometimes you go many weeks without anyone annoying you; and, most of the time you sit with your eyes closed, and no-one complains. The downsides include: Chores, but as these are light when you become venerable; you need to beg for food at the nearest town; only eating once a day; oh, I saved the best bit for last, no sex. I am not in a hurry to be a monk. Besides, it would be a blot on my resume. Not that, that is a concern since I retired. As my career did not set the world on fire, I took the easy way out and retired early. If you think that this option pandered to my lack of ambition, then you guessed right.

My Life as a Goddess: A Memoir through (Un)Popular Culture
Smart, fast, clever, and funny (As f*ck!) (Tiffany Haddish), this collection of side-splitting and illuminating essays by the popular stand-up comedian, alum of Chelsea Lately and The Mindy Project, and host of truTV's Talk Show the Game Show is perfect for fans of the New York Times bestsellers Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling and We Are Never Meeting in Real Life by Samantha Irby. From a young age, Guy Branum always felt as if he were on the outside looking in. From a stiflingly boring farm town, he couldn't relate to his neighbors. While other boys played outside, he stayed indoors reading Greek mythology. And being gay and overweight, he got used to diminishing himself. But little by little, he started learning from all the sad, strange, lonely outcasts in history who had come before him, and he started to feel hope. In this singular, genuinely ballsy, and essential (Billy Eichner) collection of personal essays, Guy talks about finding a sense of belonging at Berkeley-and stirring up controversy in a newspaper column that led to a run-in with the Secret Service. He recounts the pitfalls of being typecast as the Sassy Gay Friend, and how, after taking a wrong turn in life (i.e. law school), he found stand-up comedy and artistic freedom. He analyzes society's calculated deprivation of personhood from fat people, and how, though it's taken him a while to accept who he is, he has learned that with a little patience and a lot of humor, self-acceptance is possible. Keenly observant and intelligent, Branum's book not only offers uproarious insights into walking paths less traveled, but also into what self-acceptance means in a world still woefully intolerant of difference (Kirkus Reviews, starred review). My Life as a Goddess is an unforgettable and deeply moving book by one of today's most endearing and galvanizing voices in comedy.

Some of us are matinee level and some are sold out, opening night, line out the movie theater door level... but shitshows just the same (did anyone bring the popcorn and Milk Duds?). Add in motherhood, marriage, a never ending list of to-do's, little time for peace and quiet and maybe a light dusting (or a heaping spoonful) of depression and you've got yourself a sold out blockbuster of a show (that Amy happily shares on the internet)! 'This well-written page-turner is the definitive biography of the genius of Robin Williams, whose life redefines the highs and lows of the American dream' - Steve Martin 'Tenderly written . . . frequently hilarious' Sunday Times From his rapid-fire stand-up comedy riffs to his breakout role in Mork & Mindy and his Academy Award-winning performance in Good Will Hunting, Robin Williams was a singularly innovative and beloved entertainer. He often came across as a man possessed, holding forth on culture and politics while mixing in personal revelations - all with mercurial, tongue-twisting intensity as he inhabited and shed one character after another with lightning speed. But as Dave Itzkoff shows in this revelatory biography, Williams's comic brilliance masked a deep well of conflicting emotions and self-doubt, which he drew upon in his comedy and in celebrated films like Dead Poets Society; Good Morning, Vietnam; The Fisher King; Aladdin; and Mrs Doubtfire, where he showcased his limitless gift for improvisation to bring to life a wide range of characters. And in Good Will Hunting he gave an intense and controlled performance that revealed the true range of his talent. Robin by Dave Itzkoff shows how Williams struggled mightily with addiction and depression - topics he discussed openly while performing and during interviews - and with a debilitating condition at the end of his life that affected him in ways his fans never knew. Drawing on more than a hundred original interviews with family, friends and colleagues, as well as extensive archival research, Robin is a fresh and original look at a man whose work touched so many lives.

Sunny Side Up: a story of kindness and joy
The Calmanifesto of Happiness 'One of the kindest people I have ever met - a beautiful dancer and a beautiful person' Kevin Clifton 'Be good, be kind, be more like Susan Calman' Kirstie Allsopp 'Be kind to yourself - read this book, keep it on your bedside table or on your Kindle - even Kindle has the word kind in it' Sandi Toksvig 'Full of wisdom and humour, with the soft underbelly of the profound' Fi Glover 'It's a warm, funny and delightful book that is sure to cheer even the grumpiest curmudgeon in your life' Woman and Home Susan Calman's enthusiasm at being on Strictly Come Dancing was an inspiration to all of us. Cheer Up Love, Susan's first book, had a clear aim: to help people understand depression. Sunny Side Up has a similarly clear path: to persuade people to be kinder to each other and spread more joy. These are extremely difficult and confusing times - people are cross and shouty. It's exhausting! But more than anything, people like Susan, people who don't hate other people, are apologising for the way that they think. Susan wants to make sure that they don't. She wants them to know that it's ok to love people and that kindness is something wonderful and brilliant. Above all, she wants them to bring on the joy. So the mission is simple. To get the nation to join her in not being negative. To bring back joy, kindness and community, to find that joy in the little things in life and defeat the hate and fear. Susan is a one-woman army of hope and joy, and she's ready to lead the nation in a different direction.

Beyond the Gravy
Psychic cat Irene Peggledrip is being visited by a band of malevolent spirits who all claim to be murderers. Not only is their message disturbing, but they cause chaos with indoor snowstorms, flying books and the untimely demise of a delicious Victoria sponge. Irene calls in Hettie and Tilly of the No. 2 Feline Detective Agency to help, but they're not sure how far their skills reach into the spirit realm. Meanwhile, Lavender Stamp, the town's bad-tempered postmistress cat, has some good news to deliver to Tilly: she has won a competition to take afternoon tea with renowned mystery writer Agatha Crispy at her Devon home, Furaway House. Will Hettie and Tilly finally lay the ghosts to rest? Can Molly Bloom's new cafe survive the seance? And will the moving claw give up its secrets before the gravy congeals? Find out in this latest adventure of our favourite feline sleuths. What people are saying about The No. 2 Feline Detective Agency: 'True escapism into a world of pies, cakes and cats while somehow smuggling a truer reflection of the real world than much human detective fiction.' 'A deceptively nasty murder wrapped up in a cardigan, and served by the fire with tea and cake. A delight from beginning to end.' 'Hilarious and captivating.' 'The cat world's answer to the cosy crime novel, with bags of charm and characters you don't want to leave behind.' 'I love this series and am waiting with a warmed pastry, a hot mug of something, and a crackling fire for the next in the series.' Editorial reviews: 'Original and intriguing... a world without people which cat lovers will enter and enjoy.' P. D. James 'Mandy Morton's Feline Detective Agency instigates a new genre, both wonderful and surreal.' Maddy Prior 'The world that Morton has created is irresistible.' Publishers Weekly 'Witty and smart. Prepare to be besotted.' M.K. Graff 'Mandy Morton's series is both charming and whimsical.' Barry Forshaw 'Hettie Bagshot might be a new face at the scene of a crime, but already she could teach most fictional detectives a thing or two.' The Hunts Post

Waugh on Wine
First published in 1987 and long out of print, this collection of Auberon Waugh's writings while wine correspondent at various times for Tatler, the Spectator and Harper's and Queen is now considered a classic text by a new generation of wine writers and connoisseurs. Waugh On Wine is riddled with his legendary wit: `...hosts that skimp on their wine should be exposed, ridiculed and humiliated'. On aperitifs he wrote, `The general effect of cocktails is to anesthetise the brain, drive out the worries and preoccupations of the day and prepare men and women for each other's company.' On smoking cannabis: `For those readers that are still old-fashioned enough to smoke pot, the only wine I ever found that went well with it was Deinhart's Hochheimer Konigin Victoria Beng Riesling Kabinett.' The best way to enjoy this cornucopia of delight is to settle into a comfy chair, pour a glass of your favourite vintage and enjoy a master stylist at the top of his game.

The Great Pretender: A Catalogue of Chaos and Creativity
`Give me three years and we'll be millionaires,' Nick challenged his long-suffering family in 1980, when cash was king. `I've got an idea that's going to take us to the top.' Tinkering with alchemy in an old stable he shared with a Shire horse, Nick discovered how to create the most convincing antique replicas ever made. He started by selling a few of his netsukes on a market stall at the Birmingham Rag Market and met extraordinary and eccentric people, the risk-taking gamblers with fast tongues. Each had their own money-spinning ideas; you name it, he replicated it for the wheeler-dealers chasing the dream. When Nick and his crew reached the rarefied circles of the London art world he realised he could be dangerously out of his depth. This is the unlikely and often hilarious story of where nothing but enthusiasm and self-belief can take you.
