Wreck This Journal: To Create is to Destroy, Now With Even More Ways to Wreck!
A new edition of Keri Smith's bestseller, with updated material Think of Wreck This Journal as the anarchist's Artist's Way -- the book for those who've always wanted to draw outside the lines but were afraid to do it. For anyone who's ever wished to, but had trouble starting, keeping, or finishing a journal or sketchbook comes Wreck This Journal, an illustrated book featuring a subversive collection of suggestions, asking readers to muster up their best mistake - and mess-making abilities to fill the pages of the book (and destroy them). Through a series of creatively and quirkily illustrated prompts, acclaimed artist Keri Smith encourages journalers to engage in destructive acts - poking holes through pages, adding photos and defacing them, painting with coffee, colouring outside the lines, and more - in order to experience the true creative process. With Keri Smith's unique sensibility, readers are introduced to a new way of art and journal making, discovering novel ways to escape the fear of the blank page and fully engage in the creative process.

Fucking Good Manners
This is not a book about how to be posh. We have some slightly bigger issues to deal with these days. We've all got a million things to do and are constantly connected to millions of other people all doing a million other things, so the faster we get things done the better, right? Wrong. Among all the busyness and confusion it seems we've forgotten a few of the basics in life, like the ability to treat one another with respect, dignity and some fucking good manners. Enter Simon Griffin, author of Fucking Apostrophes. From the entry-level stuff like saying please, thank you and sorry; manspreading on public transport and double-lane queuing at airports, to those that require just a little bit more thought, such as correct urinal protocol in public toilets, making tea rounds in the office and online public displays of affection, Simon imparts rules and advice to living life in a way that makes it just a bit better for everyone. With some liberal use of rude words thrown in to emphasise the point. With chapters on driving, social media, the environment, getting on with your neighbours, and the best manners for a trip to the cinema, this is the perfect gift for a manners enthusiast, or those in need of a gentle (but sweary) nudge in the right direction.

Humour in Contemporary France: Controversy, Consensus and Contradictions
This timely study sheds new light on debates about humour and identity in France, and is the first monograph about humour and identity in France to be published in either English or French that analyses both debates about Charlie Hebdo and stand-up comedy. It examines humour, freedom of expression and social cohesion in France at a crucial time in France's recent history following the Charlie Hebdo attacks of January 2015. It evaluates the state of French society and attitudes to humour in France in the aftermath of the events of January 2015. This book argues that debates surrounding Charlie Hebdo, although significant, only provide part of the picture when it comes to understanding humour and multiculturalism in France. This monograph fills significant gaps in French and international media coverage and academic writing, which has generally failed to adequately examine the broader picture that emerges when one examines career trajectories of notable contemporary French comedians. By addressing this failing, this book provides a more complete picture of humour, identity and Republican values in France. By focusing primarily on contemporary comedians in France, this book explores competing uses of French Republican discourse in debates about humour, offensiveness and freedom of expression. Ultimately, this work argues that studying humour and multiculturalism in France in often reveals a sense of national unease within the Republic at a time of considerable turmoil.

The Wicked Wit of the Royal Family
The Wicked Wit of the Royal Family celebrates the flashes of fun and brilliance of the most famous family in the world. There is no doubt that the British royal family is THE most famous family in the world. Watched and picked over in the media for everything from fashion choices to baby bumps, sporting achievements to nightclub preferences, there doesn't seem to be a moment when they can escape public scrutiny. But, somehow, they still manage to maintain a sense of humour - and it's those flashes of fun and brilliance that this book celebrates. From Prince Philip's gaffe-prone remarks (most of which appear ON camera rather than off) to the `in' jokes shared by the knowing smiles of the younger royals and the Queen's wickedly dry and often bitingly funny remarks; from Prince Charles's asides to the Duchess of Cornwall to the self-deprecating smile of the Duchess of Cambridge and the belly laughs that appeal to Prince Harry. This book presents the other side of royal protocol and perhaps gives a glimpse of the real lives of this much-loved clan.

New Year, Same You
What is it about the term `wellness' that sets your teeth on edge? Do you really need someone to come in and help you declutter? Can you truly practice mindful meditation on the train to work every morning? If the answer to all these questions is a resounding `no', then take heart, you're not alone. What is life without struggle? Everyone knows it's impossible to float through life on a fluffy pillow of happiness; it just isn't like that. As Alan Coren once said, `To have a grievance is to have a purpose in life.' Hear hear! This book is for those who look at life from a different angle, not wearing rose-tinted glasses with their glass half full, but for life's realists: the folk who believe one should never go to bed angry ... much better to stay awake and plot your revenge. In New Year, Same You you'll find lots of laugh-out-loud humour to brighten your day (or not). Filled with words from the wise, this is the perfect book for grumps everywhere, after all, why make one person unhappy when, with a little more thought and effort, you could spread misery to the entire family?

Trump: Signs of Protest
On July 13, 2018, Londoners turned out en masse to protest against Donald Trump during his visit to the United Kingdom. The author of this book arrived to participate in the march and took his camera along, just in case there might be something 'interesting' to capture. What he found was nothing short of a Vesuvian eruption of resistance to Trump and his policies. The outrage, disgust and vitriol directed against Trump was pandemic - but so was the creativity and humour. This hilarious but powerful book is a photographic record of that momentous march, and the time, effort and in many cases money that protestors put in to creating their banners. Hundreds of thousands of people turned out - endless seas of all ages, races, genders and nationalities, and the ingenuity on display is limitless, from simple text banners ('Super Callous Fascist Racist Sexist Loser POTUS'; 'Pore me a Covfefe'), to gloriously rendered illustrations (not all of them safe for work), ingenious papier-mache sculptures, and a LOT of swearing.

And fortunately the readers of The Herald newspaper agree, as over the past year they have sent the newspaper's Diary column their funniest moments, whether it's about the daft things that happen in their office, the outrageous comments they are told in the pub, or just the eyebrow-raising observations they overhear on the train into town. AS SEEN ON BBC ONE'S THE ONE SHOW The Silverback is considered the undisputed king, a creature whose authority is never challenged and who does not yield to compromise. He walks proudly, feeds greedily, grafts tirelessly, mates voraciously, swears constantly and is threatened all too easily. The Silverback is known to nestle in the misty peaks of central Africa but can also be found in Barking, Essex. Meet Dave Kane, the disappointed, steroid-ingesting, metal-wielding, bouncer father of slight, effete Gamma Male, Russell Kane. From one of Britain's most popular and prolific comedians comes a hilarious and deeply moving memoir of life lived under the rule of a Silverback dad. This is a story about fathers and sons, class and education and how one scrawny, sensitive, fake-tan-applying 'ponce' stepped out of his father's shadow and became a man - whatever that means.

Boulevard Wren and other Stories
Boulevard Wren and Other Stories is the stunning follow-up to the bestselling Gospel According to Blindboy, and a warped mirror held up to the Irish psyche. Provocative and unsettling, the stories rove through the centuries, from the barren fields of Famine-struck Meath to the chaotic landscape of the near future, where social media has colonised the deepest recesses of the human subconscious. This is a world populated by characters lost and at odds with the demands of contemporary life, for whom the line separating redemption and madness has grown impossibly fine. Razor-sharp social satire, it is an era-defining work from one of Ireland's most anarchic satirists and a quietly devastating portrait of a society in disarray. 'Mad, wild, hysterical.'
