Surprisingly Down to Earth, and Very Funny: My Autobiography
The hysterical, shocking and incredibly intimate memoir from one of the most original and unique comedians alive today. Hello! I'm Brian Limond, aka Limmy. You might know me from Limmy's Show. Or you might not know me at all. Don't worry if you don't. They asked me to write a book about mental health, because I sometimes talk about my mental health in tweets and interviews, like suicidal thoughts and anxiety, and what I've done to try and deal with it. I said to them, oh, I don't know if I could fill a whole book with just that. But how's about I write a general autobiography type of thing, and all the mental health stuff will naturally appear along the way? I could talk about growing up and slashing my wrist and taking acid all the time and getting done for car theft and feeling like a mad freak that would never amount to anything. And then how I made my own sketch show. I directed it and everything. Plus I'm a dad. I'm an adult. But I still feel like that mad freak from years ago. I still feel like chucking it all away, for a laugh. I asked them if they wanted me to write about all that, plus some other stuff. Like being an alky. And my sexual problems. Stuff like that. They said aye. So here it is.

Race Me in a Lobster Suit: Absurd Internet Ads and the Real Conversations that Followed
We re living in a gig economy. But would you respond to an online ad seeking someone to search for escaped ants? Or take an offer for a free tattoo by someone who needs the practice? How about a mattress for sale tainted by geriatric love or a workout plan that involves throwing Virginia hams? And if you hit reply, and the poster is sketchy about the details or offers to pay you with a gift card for clams, how long would you keep the conversation going? When NYC copywriter Kelly Mahon started posting weird, fake gig ads as a creative outlet, she found that there was someone interested in every bizarre offer she came up with. And the subsequent awkward email threads were equally hilarious and bizarre. Race Me In A Lobster Suit collects Mahon s funniest fabrications, plus the hysterical email conversations that followed as she ratcheted up the crazy. While some respondants become suspicious, others seem willing to play along with the joke. And don t worry, everyone involved agreed to share their emails in the book, so there are no hard feelings. In a world where it seems like everyone s suspicious of everyone else, it s nice to know that there are still people who will at least consider helping a stranger reenact a recurring spider nightmare, or explain the principles of pig Latin to a baffled mother of three.

I Wrote This Book Because I Love You: Essays
*A People Top 10 Book of 2018* The New York Times essayist and author of We Learn Nothing, Tim Kreider trains his singular power of observation on his (often befuddling) relationships with women. Psychologists have told him he's a psychologist. Philosophers have told him he's a philosopher. Religious groups have invited him to speak. He had a cult following as a cartoonist. But, above all else, Tim Kreider is an essayist-one whose deft prose, uncanny observations, dark humor, and emotional vulnerability have earned him deserved comparisons to David Sedaris, Sarah Vowell, and the late David Foster Wallace (who was himself a fan of Kreider's humor). Beautifully written, with just enough humor to balance his spikiness (Booklist), I Wrote This Book Because I Love You focuses Tim's unique perception and wit on his relationships with women-romantic, platonic, and the murky in-between. He talks about his difficulty finding lasting love and seeks to understand his commitment issues by tracking down the John Hopkins psychologist who tested him for a groundbreaking study on attachment when he was a toddler. He talks about his valued female friendships, one of which landed him on a circus train bound for Mexico. He talks about his time teaching young women at an upstate New York college, and the profound lessons they wound up teaching him. And in a hugely popular essay that originally appeared in The New York Times, he talks about his nineteen-year-old cat, wondering if it's the most enduring relationship he'll ever have. In a style reminiscent of Orwell, E.B. White and David Sedaris (The New York Times Book Review), each of these pieces is heartbreaking, brutal, and hilarious (Judd Apatow), and collectively they cement Kreider's place among the best essayists working today.

Unparalleled tall tales and heroes wander freely through this collection of John Gould's reminiscences of life in Maine. Here you'll find stories of unlicensed Maine guide Flint Johnson and his group of Yankees and Red Sox ball players, the time L.L. Bean invited the whole town of Freeport to help him choose the best ax, and Gould's grandfather's claim to have fired the shot that started the Battle of Gettysburg. Gould does not wish his memories to be in any way taken as an autobiography, but rather they are intended to convey just how much fun he has had living and writing in Maine.

Walking sticks have had a bad press. For too long the walking stick has been portrayed as a workaday item of codgerism, a simple support for the aged and infirm. This is not the case. Possession of a walking stick opens up a whole gamut of opportunities beyond the simple 'leaning against' purpose. In 49 Uses for A Walking Stick Frank Hopkinson explains the variety of practical uses a walking stick can be put to, from flicking filthy slugs off a lawn and parting crowds to alerting a theatre-goer two rows in front that his rapid consumption of fruit bonbons is ruining everyone's enjoyment. Illustrated throughout, the book also includes a miscellany of walking stick trivia, facts and figures and fun information.

So Who's Counting?: The Little Quote Book About Growing Older and Still Kicking Ass
So long nostalgia, and goodbye resignation! This book of quotes reminds us that growing old isn't about slowing down and taking it easy-it's a chance to ask, What's next? Aging is an extraordinary process where you become the person you should have been. -David Bowie Sixty is the new fifty, seventy's the new sixty, and older is getting younger every day. With fun, forward-looking, and inspiring quotes, So Who's Counting is the ideal gift for baby boomers or anyone reaching a major age milestone. Instead of cloying sentimentality or the standard sagging-body-part jokes, it strikes the perfect balance of humor, guidance, reflection, bon mots. The Wrong End of the Table: A Mostly Comic Memoir of a Muslim Arab American Woman Just Trying to Fit in
An Immigrant Love-Hate Story of What it Means to Be American You know that feeling of being at the wrong end of the table? Like you're at a party but all the good stuff is happening out of earshot (#FOMO)? That's life-especially for an immigrant. What happens when a shy, awkward Arab girl with a weird name and an unfortunate propensity toward facial hair is uprooted from her comfortable (albeit fascist-regimed) homeland of Iraq and thrust into the cold, alien town of Columbus, Ohio-with its Egg McMuffins, Barbie dolls, and kids playing doctor everywhere you turned? This is Ayser Salman's story. First comes Emigration, then Naturalization, and finally Assimilation-trying to fit in among her blonde-haired, blue-eyed counterparts, and always feeling left out. On her journey to Americanhood, Ayser sees more naked butts at pre-kindergarten daycare that she would like, breaks one of her parents' rules ( Thou shalt not participate as an actor in the school musical where a male cast member rests his head in thy lap ), and other things good Muslim Arab girls are not supposed to do. And, after the 9/11 attacks, she experiences the isolation of being a Muslim in her own country. It takes hours of therapy, fifty-five rounds of electrolysis, and some ill-advised romantic dalliances for Ayser to grow into a modern Arab American woman who embraces her cultural differences. Part memoir and part how-not-to guide, The Wrong End of the Table is everything you wanted to know about Arabs but were afraid to ask, with chapters such as Tattoos and Other National Security Risks, You Can't Blame Everything on Your Period; Sometimes You're Going to Be a Crazy Bitch: and Other Advice from Mom, and even an open letter to Trump. This is the story of every American outsider on a path to find themselves in a country of beautiful diversity.

The Complete Funky Winkerbean: Volume 8, 1993-1995
In this seventh volume, we see the changes in tone that now characterize Funky Winkerbean. Funky becomes more of a reality-based comic strip that depicts contemporary issues in a thought-provoking and sensitive manner. In 1992 Tom Batiuk did something even more radical: he rebooted and restructured the strip, establishing that the characters had graduated from high school. From then on the series progresses in real time. Funky Winkerbean placed Batiuk at the forefront of a new genre in comic art history. His bold characterizations and dramatic plots are engaging for his readers--teens, parents, and educators alike--because they are universal stories that people can identify with. Realizing there are many comic strips for readers interested in a fantasy world, Batiuk provides an alternative by creating stories that are powerful, real, and inspiring.

Baseball Epic: Famous and Forgotten Lives of the Dead Ball Era
In this work of cartoon revisionist history, Jason Novak explores the little-talked-about dead ball era of baseball--from 1900 to 1920, when a single ball was used for an entire game--and the men and women who shaped its course. Ranging from mischievous in-game antics to the racial barriers being crossed well before Jackie Robinson, these miniature biographies highlight the joys and struggles, both on and off the field, of the unsung heroes who played pro ball before it was a profession.
