The Associate
It's a deadly game of blackmail. And they're making him play. Kyle McAvoy is one of the outstanding legal students of his generation: he's good looking, has a brilliant mind and a glittering future ahead of him. But he has a secret from his past, a secret that threatens to destroy his entire life. One night that secret catches up with him in the form of a deeply compromising video of the incident that haunts him. Kyle realises that he no longer owns his own future - that he must do as his blackmailers tell him, or the video will be made public, with all the unpleasant consequences. What price do they demand for Kyle's secret? It is for Kyle to take a job in New York as an associate at the largest law firm in the world. Kyle won't be working for this company, but against it - passing on the secrets of it's biggest trial to date, a dispute worth billions of dollars to the victor. Full of twists and turns and reminiscent of The Firm, The Associate is vintage John Grisham.

The Oath
Named to Kirkus Reviews' Best Books of 2016 The Oath tracks the intertwined lives of Dr. Katz and SS Doktor Bloch, who both survive Auschwitz and the war to practice medicine in the United States, never losing the stains upon their souls. Katz, a respected Jewish French surgeon captured by the Nazis, volunteers to serve at Auschwitz, believing he can protect his wife and children from the gas chambers by helping Joseph Mengele and other SS physicians with their human studies. There he meets Tamara Lissner, a Czech teenager who miraculously survives death in the chambers, but when he hides her in his lab, she becomes witness to the medical torture Katz is forced to impose upon fellow Jews as he assists Doktor Bloch in his cold immersion experiments. After the war, Doktor Bloch avoids criminal prosecution through Operation Paperclip, a clandestine government program that welcomes German scientists to America (including Werner von Braun), ignoring Nazi ties and their participation in the war. Years later, Tamara reenters Dr. Katz's life, helping him deal with the shame and guilt of his actions at Auschwitz. But just when Katz is coming to terms with his past, he receives a call from former Auschwitz inmate Martin Brosky, who has devoted his life to bringing painful retribution to Nazi criminals who have evaded capture. Martin insists that Michel help him kill Bloch, and Michel must now weigh the risks of defying Martin against the sweetness of revenge, knowing well that his own sordid complicity at Auschwitz could be revealed.

The Killing Season
The first thing you should know about me is that my name is not Carter Blake. That name no more belongs to me than the hotel room I was occupying when the call came in. When Caleb Wardell, the infamous 'Chicago Sniper', escapes from death row two weeks before his execution, the FBI calls on the services of Carter Blake, a man with certain specialised talents whose skills lie in finding those who don't want to be found. A man to whom Wardell is no stranger. Along with Elaine Banner, an ambitious special agent juggling life as a single mother with her increasingly high-flying career, Blake must track Wardell down as he cuts a swathe across America, apparently killing at random. But Blake and Banner soon find themselves sidelined from the case. And as they try desperately to second guess a man who kills purely for the thrill of it, they uncover a hornets' nest of lies and corruption. Now Blake must break the rules and go head to head with the FBI if he is to stop Wardell and expose a deadly conspiracy that will rock the country. Slick, fast-paced and assured, THE KILLING SEASON is the first novel in the gripping new Carter Blake series.

`When someone isn't home when you expect them to be, and when after a decent interval they still don't turn up, and send no message and have left no note, it's natural to get anxious. But there's still a lack of decisive event. Your ears are all the time waiting for the lick of the door, the quick familiar footsteps, and the breathless apology. So I didn't do anything more to find her that night.' There are many questions in Winston Graham's The Sleeping Partner. Why has Lynn Granville left her husband Michael? Because he is never at home? Because at work Michael has an extremely attractive new assistant whose marriage has its own problems? Or because she herself has created a new life that does not involve him. And why are the police taking such a criminal view on what surely must be a domestic case . . . ?

The Boathouse
Sean Archer is a self-taught criminologist and profiler who has been obsessed with crime since his parents were found dead when he was 14 years old. A computer savant, who has developed digital profiling tools, that the police have come to depend on. Sean has acquired a reputation for being able to solve crimes that no one else can - but when his own girlfriend, Alex, is brutally murdered, whilst researching an off-grid torture facility called The Boathouse, his brilliant inventions are of no use. Alex has left little for Sean to decipher - only a list of names. Peter Sinclair, a property billionaire, contacts Sean for help. Peter's wife, Becky, has been kidnapped and will be killed if he reports it to the police, or refuses to follow instructions. Sean agrees to help, not because he wants the case, but because Peter Sinclair was on Alex's list. When Sean tracks Becky down, she leads him right where he wants to go - or so he thinks. As he climbs over the wall of The Boathouse, he's certain he's just one step from finding Alex's killers - but Sean is utterly unprepared for solving the crime and surviving such a daunting place. The Boathouse is more heinous, more sinister, than anything Sean had ever imagined and he has little chance of surviving...The Boathouse is a complex suspense thriller that will be enjoyed by readers who thrive on solving crime investigations. The dense plot with multiple twists presents excitement and intrigue to Sean's investigation. I want my readers to enjoy a fascinating journey that reveals thoughtful discussions about society that questions issues such as violence, treachery and revenge, whilst providing quality entertainment, says R. J. Harries. His writing style is comparable to Simon Kernick and Lee Child, and he has primarily been inspired by crime genre authors, Jo Nesbo and Jeffery Deaver.

The Shivering Mountain
It began with the Night News Editor of the Record, in a foul temper, sending Hugh Curtis out on a time-wasting chase to confirm a totally uninteresting rumour. It developed into the biggest scoop the paper had ever known and one of the most unusual and dangerous stories which Hugh had ever covered. The tip-off, which might have rated three lines in an early edition, concerned a bogus telephone message which sent a certain Mrs. Ward hurrying to a London suburban hospital. The pay-off was a disappearance which sent Hugh to a desolate rendezvous with men who were holding a nation to ransom. For once he was one step ahead of Mollie Bourne of the Courier and it was not in Mollie's nature to play second fiddle to anyone. Pursuing her own line of investigation she too was swept into the weird and thrilling climax to Paul Somers' absorbing new story which is a fast-moving and exciting successor to Beginner's Luck.

Project Polina
As the daughter of a mega-wealthy Russian oligarch, you would assume Polina Averyanov has everything money can buy. When eighteen-year-old Polina aspires to be a pop star, her wealthy father does what any well to do magnate would he does his best to make his daughter's dream come true, but quickly discovers pop stardom cannot be easily bought. When Polina competes in a small song contest in the Ukraine, her existence comes to the attention of her father's worst enemy, Boris Korzhakov. Boris has reached the higher echelons of Russian politics to head the FSB, which is concerned with internal security of the Russian State, but is also involved in the fight against espionage and organised crime, formerly a faction of the KGB. Boris Korzhakov was Stanislav Averyanov's business partner until Averyanov was arrested for crimes against the state. After bribing his way out of prison, Averyanov moved the major part of his assets to London. Polina's career isn't taking off, and when there's a direct threat to the Averyanov family, Gresham CPC Global are called in to protect the spoilt young girl, and her family. Brody McCaine and his partner, Glen, are asked to guard the girl on a twenty-four-hour basis. Why has Boris Korzhakov suddenly decided to attack the Averyanov family after all these years? He has had no dealing with Stanislav Averyanov for over twenty years. Korzhakov seems more interested in Stanislav's daughter, than the oligarch himself. Could it have something to do with the expensive jewellery Polina is wearing, which she inherited from her great grandmother, and given to her for her eighteenth birthday. Charlotte Hart is still living with her dysfunctional family and struggling to make a career for herself as a music journalist, while divorcing her husband, who is making life difficult for her. It all comes to a head when Brody and Glen turn up at Charlotte Hart's family home, in need of a safe house. Brody's feelings for Charlie become evident to Polina, who has developed a deep crush, bordering on obsession, for Brody. Charlie's dysfunctional family finds itself in the middle of a bitter feud that has international implications and isn't helped by the fact that the band The Sticks road manager, Digger, turns up with problems of his own. Loyalties are tested as the need to escape from the Hart family house, which is under surveillance by FSB agents, and they work to research the origin of Polina's jewellery and get to the bottom of what really happened to Polina's great grandmother during the Russian revolution in 1917, at the same time keeping their whereabouts hidden from the people who are looking for them.
