Lillian Too's 168 Ways to Declutter Your Home: And Re-Energize Your Life
Clear the clutter and revitalize your living space. Energy is a precious commodity - the source of vitality, good relationships and peace of mind. The 168 techniques in this practical guide show how physical clutter is more than just junk - the debris in our home actually creates mental and spiritual blocks to success. When this is cleared, we get the balance back in life, plus a whole range of new opportunities. The book begins with energy basics and practical de-junking suggestions, such as how to clear your desk to create success or rearrange your living room for harmonious relationships, then presents step-by-step cleansing and revitalization rituals to recharge your home's atmosphere. The rituals show how to use crystals, salt, rice grains, herbs, incense, flower petals, fragrant water and amazing visualization techniques to enhance and protect your environment. Chapters on using mystic symbols, such as geometric yantra designs, and magnifying spiritual energy complete the clutter journey. A section on personalized practices gives inspiring, fast solutions for those bad days: cupboard-clearing when you feel unattractive, or rearranging your desk when you feel defeated. All rituals and techniques have been personally tried and tested by Lillian Too, and have brought her great personal success.

Grace Bonney's daily website Design*Sponge -dubbed Martha Stewart Living for MillennialsA by The New York Times -has 60,000 daily readers who love the site for its home tours and makeovers, DIY projects, recipes, videos, and podcasts. Bonney created the site in 2004 as an antidote to the fussy ( and expensive) shelter magazines of her mother's generation, turning it into a rallying point for crafty young homeowners everywhere. Culled fro her site, but with 50 percent all-new material, DESIGN*SPONGE DECORATING ESSENTIALS is Bonney's definative guide to creating a stylish home for young homeowners and renters. This is truly Design on a Dime-from the tours of real-life interiors, where the decor was culled from flea markets and the owners' objects as a butterfly dome. Along the way, Bonney teaches the reader the principles of decorating and collecting, empowering them to create beautiful homes of their own.

Anjalendran: Architect Of Sri Lanka
This beautifully illustrated book showcases the works of one of Sri Landa's most influential architects-Anjaledran, an ethnic Tamil and visionary artist. During the past 25 years of civil war in Sri Lanka, Anjalendran has stayed on, creating architecture that has attracted interest across the entire Indian subcontinent. In Anjalendran, David Robson explores this unique man and his uncommon vision. Anjalendran's buildings have a simple directness, and although totally modern in spirit, they acknowledge the rich design traditions of Sri Lanka. Whether working with ample budgets or at rock bottom cost (like his SOS Children's Village orphanages), his work focuses not only on creative buildings, but-a la Frank Lloyd Wright-also their landscaping, furniture and decoration. Just as interesting as the architecture is the process by which Anjalendran works-:from home, never employing more than four student assistants, with no office, no secretary, no car and no cell phone. He operates without a bank account and has never signed a contract with either a client or a builder. With stunning color photographs, plan details and behind-the-scenes insights, Anjalendran sheds light on the works of this exceptional man.

Human Dimension And Interior Space
The study of human body measurements on a comparative basis is known as anthropometrics. Its applicability to the design process is seen in the physical fit, or interface, between the human body and the various components of interior space. Human Dimension and Interior Space is the first major anthropometrically based reference book of design standards for use by all those involved with the physical planning and detailing of interiors, including interior designers, architects, furniture designers, builders, industrial designers, and students of design. The use of anthropometric data, although no substitute for good design or sound professional judgment should be viewed as one of the many tools required in the design process. This comprehensive overview of anthropometrics consists of three parts. The first part deals with the theory and application of anthropometrics and includes a special section dealing with physically disabled and elderly people. It provides the designer with the fundamentals of anthropometrics and a basic understanding of how interior design standards are established. The second part contains easy-to-read, illustrated anthropometric tables, which provide the most current data available on human body size, organized by age and percentile groupings. Also included is data relative to the range of joint motion and body sizes of children. The third part contains hundreds of dimensioned drawings, illustrating in plan and section the proper anthropometrically based relationship between user and space. The types of spaces range from residential and commercial to recreational and institutional, and all dimensions include metric conversions. In the Epilogue, the authors challenge the interior design profession, the building industry, and the furniture manufacturer to seriously explore the problem of adjustability in design. They expose the fallacy of designing to accommodate the so-called average man, who, in fact, does not exist. Using government data, including studies prepared by Dr. Howard Stoudt, Dr. Albert Damon, and Dr. Ross McFarland, formerly of the Harvard School of Public Health, and Jean Roberts of the U.S. Public Health Service, Panero and Zelnik have devised a system of interior design reference standards, easily understood through a series of charts and situation drawings. With Human Dimension and Interior Space, these standards are now accessible to all designers of interior environments.

What some view as trash, Linda and John Meyers see as raw material. The wife-and-husband team-subscribers to the reduce, reuse, recycle ethos-have perfected a design strategy that will save you money, help the planet, and provide hours of DIY fun. The strategy? First, visit a yard sale, construction-site dumpster, or even your own attic. Select something that somebody (even you) thought had outlived its usefulness. Then, transform that castoff into a piece that's interesting and usable. In this witty book, they apply their ingenious approach to seating (a chair made from pool noodles), lighting (a lamp from discarded pastry bags), storage (an umbrella stand from industrial steel pipe), tables (a wall-mounted table from a rusty basketball hoop), and all manner of decorative objects (Astroturf pillows, a pickle-jar terrarium). These super-clever authors show you that with a little ingenuity and elbow grease, everything old becomes new again.

1000 New Eco Designs and Where to Find Them
1000 New Eco Designs is a showcase of contemporary product design and interior products that are ecologically sound. Informative and visually inspirational, the book acts as a handbook, guiding readers through the complex issues involved in creating and choosing eco-friendly designs for the home. As we become only too aware of the damage man has caused to the planet, more of us want to furnish and decorate our homes with products that do not harm the environment. But being sensitive to the environment does not mean you have to sacrifice good design. More and more designers are creating products that are both beautiful and ethical. A series of icons show each product's 'green' credentials; highlighting the use of recycled, sustainable and locally-sourced materials as well as non-toxic, low-energy and low-waste manufacturing processes, so that readers can see at a glance the individual characteristics of each design. The book also provides full information on where to source and buy the products featured.

Architectural Drafting for Interior Designers
Beginning interior designers can learn how to graphically communicate their ideas with a resource that is designed specifically for them. While traditional drafting books focus on architectural and engineering readers, Architectural Drafting for Interior Designers, Second Edition, eliminates irrelevant coverage and incorporates material and examples that are meaningful to today's interior designers. This book also addresses the specific needs of beginning interior designers by focusing on topics needed before AutoCAD is even introduced, such as how to draw a floor plan, how to use it to create an interior elevation, and how to understand the relationship between 2D and 3D drawings. Updated to include a new chapter on integrating software with hand drawings, and with content thematically reorganized, this edition is more comprehensive and intuitive than ever. The only book that is written to the standards of the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ) and interior design trade associations like the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), this will provide readers with a strong, standards-based foundation in interior design.

Bunny Williams' Point of View
An Affair with a House continues to be a top seller for STC, with more than 45,000 copies in printShows readers how to realize their own taste and design preferencesYou learn from people with great taste, says Bunny Williams. She should know. As a novice, Williams worked for legendary decorators Sister Parish and Albert Hadley, absorbing everything she could of their peerless design sense. Striking out on her own, she rose to the top rank of the interior design profession, where she has stylishly remained for the last 30 years. Now, it's our turn to learn from her. Part memoir and part how-to manual, Bunny Williams' Point of View showcases many of the drop-dead chic but always cozily comfortable residences whose interiors Williams has designed during her astounding career. As Williams tells it, every design decision she makes is based on a bedrock principle: Knowing what you value is essential. Her conviction that every person's home should manifest their personality guides her as she creates environments that fit each client precisely, like a couture suit. By showing you how to plan and then accomplish that plan for each room of your house, Williams inspires you to take account of your own values-and to realize your personal vision of how you want to live. As she says about the book: My point of view will help you discover yours.
