Pain was the spur to writing this book; the pain of losing the person who meant so much to her. Nicola Wood wanted to write a lasting memorial to the man she loved who, in two short years, was destroyed by Motor Neurone's Disease. From his first diagnosis through to the last painful moments, when it seemed as if he was held prisoner in his own unmoving body, Nicola was with him. This book records not how well she cared for him (she hates the word 'carer') but how much she loved him. All those who find themselves in a similar situation, whatever the disease, will recognise Nicola's honest and open account.
