South Africa and Africa: Within or Apart?

An exploration of the dimensions of South Africa's present and future relations with the rest of Africa. This book examines these relations in a broad continental context of political economy and the legacy of Apartheid. Among the questions the book asks about the new democratic South Africa are: will it address the needs of the majority?; will its relations with neighbouring states be restructured equitably?; will South Africa stand up for its own interests and those of Africa?; or will the new leadership become distanced from its popular roots and pushed into further marginalizing and impoverishing its people and continent?
