As in Volume 1, an introduction to the plant families is given in the early pages of the book. Some notes on the leaves of plants are also given, as well as a general description of how to grow a few species of wild trees and shrubs. Flora of the Maltese Islands Volume 2 is the 2nd of a series of 4 volumes that make up an essential guide to the wild plants of the Maltese Islands. In describing many species of wild plants these books show the beauty of all this natural wealth and at the same time highlighting the importance that both the species and their habitats should be respected and protected.
